Molybdomancy by Simon Christophers and Pete Gomes

Simon Christophers and Pete Gomes are an English, South London based instrumental duo. The pair use flute, benjolin modular synthesiser (Gomes) and guitar (Christophers). And predominately improvise whilst live recording as their way of working

Simon and Pete met through the Jah Wobbles Tuned In bi-monthly musical jam sessions held in Wimbledon where they both started attending in October 2023. Petes singular flute playing through various footpedals was augmented by the addition of a Macumbista Benjolin modular synthesiser, custom made for his flute, and that in conjunction with with Simons guitar playing led to three EPs. All born form three separate jams session at Simons studio in 2024. The finer moments have been distilled into what now encompasses the album Molybdomancy.

Molybdomancy: Divination derived from interpreting the shapes formed when molten metal is poured into water. The resulting solidified shapes are then analysed to gain insights into the future or to reveal hidden meanings.
